Background
Breeding Season 2012/Fall Migration 2012: Pingo (a likely female) was captured on her nest on 11 June 2012 by Canadian Wildlife Service and CCB biologists and outfitted with a 5 gram satellite transmitter. Pingo is named for an arctic geologic formation formed by permafrost.
Pingo began fall migration shortly after her breeding attempt, moving to Banks Island, NWT before returning to mainland NWT. Pingo then began an epic 4300km flight while averaging 74kph! We await the next stopping point...
