Background
RTWO-DTWO was first flipper tagged while nesting on Keewaydin Island back in June 2003. She was observed only once more that year (on the Fourth of July!) and has not been spotted on the island again until this June. Her two previous nests had a very high hatching percentage – about 90% - which resulted in 183 hatchlings reaching the Gulf. Presently, we are waiting for the two nests she laid this summer to hatch to see how many more hatchlings result from her efforts. Hopefully, these nests will also have a high hatching percentage. We also can't help but wonder where she had been during the past seven years? Will we meet her again on Keewaydin sometime in the future?
R2D2 is the second loggerhead we've been able to satellite tag thanks to the kindness of Donald and Ruth Campbell. In 2009, they donated the fnuding for DR, which stands for Donald and Ruth.
