Background
***4th December. The data currently being received from this satellite tag (from November 29th) are suggestive that this tag is no longer attached to Cailleach. The majority of locations being received have very high estimates of location accuracy, and showing the tag at a constant temperature, which is not consistent with behaviour of sharks with tags still attached. The tag popped off near the Canary Islands***
All sharks were named by suggestions sent to SNH by members of the public. Cailleach is a Scottish legend of an "old woman", which bears a resemblance to the basking sharks huge, hooked nose.
