Background

The community of Pirlangimpi held a three day camp based around sea turtle conservation and included approximately 70 students and 70 adults. The camp included a sea turtle play by the school, dancing, sport, a Powerpoint Presentation and visits to a nearby beach to view nesting olive ridley turtles. On the last night a sea turtle (named Imalu by the students) had a transmitter attached to investigate post nesting movements. This camp was a huge success and could not have been acheived without the help of many organisations which included: Pularumpi School, CDEP, Tiwi Land Council, Coastcare, Munipi Arts, TLC Marine Rangers, Top End School Group, Northern Territory Government, NT Department of Education, Pirlangimpi Progress Association and many local individuals.
