Background
This olive ridley turtle was caught in off shore water off the coast og Ghana. It was caught at part of a sea turtle project at the Danish Galthea 3 Expedition, and is therefore named "Thea" though it is most probably a male.
It was seen at the surface together with three other Olive ridley turtles - perhabs during a mating ritual.
The turtle was caught from a rubberboat using a large dip net and was brought to the Expedition vessel for measuring (CCL = 66,5, 36 kg, having a relatively large tail) and tagging, whereafter is was relased relatively close to the capture location.
