Background

This bald eagle is a full time resident of the Chesapeake Bay region. It moves throughout the Bay in search of seasonally available food resources like spawning fish and migratory waterfowl. Even though this adult male is old enough to breed, he has yet to find a mate and establish a breeding territory. We captured this eagle using a noosed floating fish which safely snares the eagle by the foot. After fitting the eagle with a solar powered GPS transmitter, we released it on the shoreline of the Bay.
