Mackenzie (Whimbrel) is 720 km from Whitehorse
Background
Breeding/migration 2012: Mackenzie (named after the Mackenzie River Delta, an extremely important area for breeding whimbrels and other shorebirds) was captured at her nest on 11 June 2012 by Canadian Wildlife Service and CCB biologists. After her breeding attempt, she began migration and is currently on Coats Island, Nunavut, Canada. Mackenzie has since moved to the shores of the St. Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada.
Mackenzie is outfitted with the transmitter that was recovered from one of the two whimbrels shot (Machi and Goshen) in Guadeloupe in the fall of 2011.
