Background

This turtle will receive her official name in December from the winner of a contest for local children in the town of Mayumba. Children will submit essays on sea turtle and wildlife conservation in Gabon, and the winner of the contest will get to name the last turtle! This turtle was found early on the morning of November 9, just south of the first Tchimbia River mouth, approximately 3 km south of base camp Nyafessa.
