Background
Paddles was one of six Australian flatback turtles tagged with a Mk10-AF Fastloc PTT at Eighty Mile Beach in Western Australia for the 2011 nesting season.
Flipper tagged for the first time, her left tag was WA83869 and the right tag WA83877. She measured 88cm (CCL) and 77cm (CCW). Paddles was missing the tip off her front left flipper.
The attachment of the harness and transmitter deployment was conducted by Research Assistants Anna Mueller, Tony Dingwall and Glenn McFarlane.
The name Paddles was provided by students from Dampier Primary School in the Pilbara. These students will be monitoring Paddles as she travels around this part of the Indian Ocean.
