Background
Teresa was the first leatherback turtle in Mayumba National Park to receive a satellite transmitter. After nesting she left the beach and spent time in the waters off Gabon before nesting 10 days later. After the season finished Teresa departed Gabonese waters for the high seas where she started her annual foraging migration. This season leatherback turtles fitted with satellite transmitters have tended to move in a southerly direction. Not only does the satellite transmitter tell us where Teresa is but it also sends us information on her diving behaviour and the temperature of the water that she encounters.
