Background
Kent was the fourth bird to be tagged in 2009. All the shearwaters tagged in 2009 are named after islands in the Bay of Fundy. Kent is named after an island found in the Grand Manan Archipelago. In 1935, the Bowdoin Scientific Station was established on Kent Island as a research facility and sanctuary for nesting birds. Bowdoin Scientific Station is the biological field station of Bowdoin College of Brunswick, Maine. Research on Kent includes work with gulls, storm-petrels, warbler, swallows and Savannah sparrows.
